    • Everything Else

We have gone over all of the essentials that you will need to safely use epoxy resin. There are a few other items that are recommended but definitely not required. In this section, I will be going over a few of the items and why you may want to use them so you can decide if it is something that you feel like you need. Again, these are all just suggestions of products that I have personally used or researched. I have not used a few of these items but wanted to make sure I went over them so you were aware of all the options. Air Purifier and Room Ventilation Using an air purifier will significantly reduce the fumes and provide you with cleaner air in your workspace. Because of this, it is a great idea to have one in your workspace to keep yourself and those around you safe. Having proper room ventilation when working with resin is essential! Most epoxy products are now completely safe to use indoors and, in fact, if you take the appropriate precautions, you will have nothing to worry about at all. The safety equipment on the market today is excellent and more than good enough to deal with the minor perils that epoxy presents. Here are some things that you can do to ensure proper room ventilation. Get the windows open. The more windows that you can open, the better. At a minimum try to open one window on either end of the room, this will allow air to flow through the workspace. If it's not possible for you to open a window it is highly recommended that you use an air purifier and try not to stay in the area for an extended amount of time. It is also highly recommended that you close any air vents in the room while working with resin. This will ensure that you keep everyone else in your home safe from breathing in any of the harsh chemicals and fumes. This is especially important, if you are doing any type of sanding or working with large batches of epoxy for an extended period of time. If you have a ceiling fan in your work area it is also a great way to move air around. This is especially nice if you are in an area that doesn't have a window that you can open. A ceiling fan can also help draw the fumes away from where you work too. If you don't have a ceiling fan, another great option is to set up other fans around you. You can set up a couple of desktop or standing fans so that they’re blowing directly across the workspace and pushing the fumes away from you. You can get these small fans for a really low price and they do a great job! Here is one that I use and it has worked great for me! Just remember that when it comes to ventilation, you're goal is to move the air away from you. So as long as you are doing something that will accomplish that, you are good! Here is the air purifier that I use in my personal work space. As well as another option that I have in my home that is smaller. When looking for a good air purifier, make sure you get one that will cover the size of room that you are working in. I am working in a large room in my basement so this one covers over 1000 sq ft. So depending on your space you may not need one that size. Epoxy Resin Tent I haven't personally used one, but an epoxy tent is a sectioned-off area of a room that is meant to keep fumes and VOCs centralized and safely contained within its walls. Epoxy tents are generally made using hydroponic grow tents and have a fan that exchanges fresh air with the epoxy-fume air, making it a safe working environment. According to the DIY Craft Club, When considering buying a hydroponic grow tent to use exclusively as an epoxy tent for epoxy resin safety, you will want to think first about where you are going to put it. This will determine the size you can buy. When selecting a grow tent to use as an epoxy tent, you will want to give yourself as much space as possible to move around somewhat comfortably while working with resin. BUT make sure that you are venting the fumes to an outside window for safety. Like, I said I haven't personally used one, but there are some amazing resources out there on how to create one. I have linked the one from DIY Craft Club if you would like more information on this option. Body Coverings As previously mentioned, Epoxy Resin can be a messy business! It is a great idea to make sure you have yourself and your clothing protected from any possible messes. Coverings range from simple aprons to full-on zombie apocalypse hazmat suits! If you are going to use anything I would definitely recommend using an apron! I like to use ones that are oil and water-resistant. This will prevent anything from soaking through the material and getting on you. This is my favorite because of the thick canvas material and the fit. This one is also nice because it's one size fits all so you don't have to worry about it fitting or not. I also love how durable it is! This thing is going to last forever and is really easy to clean. Also, all the extra pockets are a huge plus! This one is under $20 so it's budget-friendly and cute at the same time! I have also used this one as well and this one is my second choice. This apron is oil and water-resistant which is a huge plus! If you spill epoxy on it, you won't have to worry about it soaking through and getting on your clothes at all. Plus the dark color hides it all really well. I love the look of the white aprons but they look so dirty so fast. Another great thing to love about this one is that it is under $10! Next are arm covers! These may seem random, but if you have any sensitivities to epoxy resin, these are a great item to have on hand! When my allergy was especially bad I had a lot of orders that I was working on. I tried to use a full body suit, but it didn't work for me and I actually broke out more than I ever had before on my arms. I even still have scars from it! So I was looking all over for another option and found these arm covers. They are disposable and do such a great job at protecting your skin. You get a pack of 100 for under $10! If you are looking for full body protection there are some options out there. I am personally not a fan of these, because like I said before, I had a really bad reaction with the one I wore. You will want to make sure you find one that will protect you from the vapors, is chemical resistant and prevents any physical contact with epoxy resin. Avoid anything that is just fabric since the epoxy resin can still get through it and onto you. Like the aprons, finding one that is oil and water resistant will be your best option. These are all personal preference and you will want to find the option that will work best for you! If you have any questions at all on anything that I covered here, let me know!

    • Summary

When I first started to use resin, I didn't take the time to do the research that I should have, which is something that I really regret not doing. It is so important that we know what we are working with. Resin has come so far over the years and is not as dangerous as it once was. But it is still always going to be a chemical, so we need to remember this while working with it. If used correctly, there is nothing to ever be nervous about! I know I covered some scary parts of epoxy, but by being proactive with your approach to it, you will have nothing to worry about! Even though I am now allergic to epoxy, I am still able to work with it as long as I do it safely. Thank you so much for taking the time to go through this course! I hope that you were able to learn some new and useful things and get the tools that you need to safely use epoxy resin. I love working with resin so much and wanted to make sure that you all can enjoy it safely and without any worries. If you have any questions at all on anything that I covered please reach out and let me know. I am always happy to help in anyway that I can. I hope you have the best day ever! And happy epoxying!

    • Perfect Lighting for Product Photos

(From May 31, 2023 Newsletter) When it comes to selling products, one of your greatest assets is your product photos! They can make or break a listing! Thankfully it is a simple process to get beautiful product photos that will catch your customers attention and help you stand out above the rest! This month I wanted to share with you a few simple tips that can help elevate your photos to the next level! Each week I will be sharing something different! Let's start with the most important step! LIGHTING! LIGHTING! LIGHTING! I cannot stress enough how important lighting is! If our photos are dark how can our customers see what we have properly?! There are a few things you can do to help with this. Use natural lighting when possible. Go outside or to a room in your home that has big windows that let the light in! Use a Lightbox, ring light or bright white studio lighting. Edit photos before posting. Lightroom is a great option with presets available to purchase. You can also edit photos in Canva, directly from your phone and there are many other great apps. I hope that this helps and let me know if you have any questions. • Getting your business to stand out

March 7,2023 Newsletter Tip of The Week Let's talk about something that is one of the most important parts of owning a small business...Branding! The way that you present yourself and your branding is HUGE! You are amazing and unique, so your business should be the same. It is easy to play the comparison game but make sure you are creating a brand that is unique to you. Use things that stand out and show others what is different and unique about you. Use colors that stand out. When creating a logo make sure it is clear and easy to read. Another important thing is to make sure it is easy to see as a social media logo. If you have any questions or need any help with any of this let me know!

    • It's Okay To Not Be Okay

February 28,2023 Newsletter I have been trying hard to think of a good tip this week! And the same thing keeps coming to my mind. I like to think of myself as an open book. I always want to be as honest and transparent as possible with you. And the truth is that I have been struggling! I always try to put on a brave face and be as happy and positive as I can. But sometimes we have to admit that it's ok to not be ok! We can become so overwhelmed at times that we start to feel like we are losing a part of ourselves. We can become unmotivated and lose our inspiration for creativity. So what do we do when this happens? THIS IS NOT HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE! We are meant to have joy and love what we do! So with this in mind I have decided to do a full overhaul of how I am spending my time So I wanted to share a few of the things that I am going to be working on and hopefully it can help someone else too and we go through this together! . Find Balance! Take a step back and decide what is a priority and what things are not. We need to focus on those important things. Write a list of all your priorities and see what things you can cut back on and what you need to focus on more! Be Mindful! Be mindful of yourself and your feelings. Pay attention to those days that you are feeling overrun and overwhelmed. The more aware and mindful we are the better! Relax More! What is relaxing?! 🤣 Finding time to relax and unwind can be the hardest thing to do! But we need to make it more of a priority! Schedule time for yourself EVERYDAY to relax! Be Optimistic! It's really easy for us to fall into negativity and focus on all of the things that are going wrong. Let's try and look more on the bright side of things and the positive things going on and the things that are within our control! Less Screen Time! As a society we have become attached to our devices. It is so important that we take the time to unplug! This will allow us time to slow down and reconnect with the things that are around us and matter! This is a big one for me! Pay It Forward! One of the greatest things that we can do is to help someone! It doesn't have to be anything extravagant! Even just saying some kind words or smiling at someone makes a huge difference. Not only for them, but for you! Prioritize Your Health! You are a priority!! And so is your health! Make sure you are eating breakfast, drinking enough water, working out (so not my favorite thing to do) and taking care of yourself! So many good things come from living healthy! Get Organized! When our life is chaotic and disorganized we mentally feel chaotic and disorganized! I am not saying that we need to be perfectly organized. But if we can organize our time, needs and wants it makes a huge difference! Prioritize Sleep! This is an area that I struggle in! I don't make sleep a priority and stay up way too late! Sleep makes such a huge difference in how our day is going to be! If we are rested, we will be happier and healthier! Let's get more sleep! Dream Big! Don't get stuck where you are! You are capable of amazing things!! Never be content with where you are and always strive to do more! Doing this will allow us to learn and grow in ways we didn't think were possible. Meditate! Ok hear me out on this one! I was in anxiety desperation mode and started to meditate and I cannot even begin to explain how much of a difference it has made! Taking a quiet moment to disconnect from the world works wonders!!! Laugh! We have all heard that "Laughter is the best medicine!" and it really is! We need to laugh more! We need to laugh more at ourselves when things don't go the right way. We need to stop taking life so seriously and just have fun! Feel Good! I am in no way an expert on all of these things. Just remember that we are all in this together and that we are all a work work in progress! But in the end we are ALL perfect in our amazing and beautiful imperfections! It all comes down to doing things that help us feel good and be happy. We are all going to have bad days. We are all going to have times where we don't feel ok and that is ok! Just take one day at a time and remember to be patient with yourself and love yourself just the way you are!
